This fall, Carmen Giannattasio will star as Alice Ford in Barrie Kosky’s “immaculate” (Bachtrack) production of Falstaff at Opéra de Lyon. This engagement will mark her retirement from the role following her great success at major opera houses, including LA Opera, Festival d’Aix-en-Provence, La Scala, and Wiener Staatsoper.
In this Shakespearean comedy, Ms. Giannattasio will share the stage with Christopher Purves as Sir John Falstaff, Juan Francisco Gatell as Fenton, Stéphane Degout as Ford, Giulia Semenzato as Nannetta, Antoinette Dennefeldunder as Meg Page, and Daniela Barcellona as Mistress Quickly. Daniele Rustioni conducts. Performances will take place on October 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, 23.
