‘Tosca’ at the Macerata Opera Festival

This July, Carmen Giannattasio will reprise her signature role of Tosca at the Macerata Opera Festival. This glamorous new production by Valentina Carrasco will place the drama on a 1950’s film set, tying to the theme of this year’s festival: the world of cinema. Helping to bring this vision to life will be set designer Samal Blak, costume designer Silvia Aymonino and lighting designer Peter van Praet.

The brilliant cast will also include Antonio Poli as Cavaradossi, Claudio Sgura as Scarpia, Alessandro Abis as Angelotti, Saverio Fiore as Spoletta, William Corrò as Sciarrone and Armando Gabba as a sacristan. The FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana will be led by the festival’s music director Donato Renzetti. Also featured is the Coro lirico marchigiano “Vincenzo Bellini” and the Pueri Cantores “D. Zamberletti”.

Performances will take place on July 22, 24, 29 and 31 at the Sferisterio Arena in Macerata, Italy.
